When selecting projects and partners, the Astrid Uganda Foundation makes thorough evaluations. We select projects that are sustainable and support the self-reliance of the local community. We ask partners to be transparent about their approach, organization and finances. We go by the principle of 'Bribe Free Zone’. In return, the Astrid Uganda Foundation offers sustainable organizational and financial support. Of course we are transparent ourselves about how we work.
Policy
The Astrid Uganda Foundation is too young to apply for a CBF certification. This requires a charity to exist for at least three years. Besides, upholding the certificate is expensive. Yet the way we work fits the guidelines of this Central Bureau on Fundraising (CBF). This is described in a separate statement (policy). The CBF criteria focus on governance, policy, fundraising, information & communication, resource allocation and accountability.

Acceptance Conditions
Before the Astrid Uganda Foundation decides to finance a project, a project / partner has to meet a number of conditions. These are described in our acceptance conditions. A few examples.
- Organizational and legal matters, including economic ownership of land and buildings, are pre-checked. This will prevent foundation money to fall into the wrong hands.
- The Astrid Uganda Foundation will select a competent local partner who can coach, train, monitor and evaluate.
- Support is based on a sound project plan. This should include how other operating costs are covered by structural income (no gifts).
- Agreements on an accountability structure between the board / management of the project and the Astrid Uganda Foundation will be defined clearly.

Bribe Free Zone
The Astrid Uganda Foundation conducts its business openly and honestly. We are a reliable partner. We consider any Euro / Dollar / Uganda Shilling that can not be spent on our projects, as money lost. The children we support are duped. Our donors will remove their support. This clear message we repeat consistently, to all our partners, officials, administrators and politicians in Uganda to make sure that no money goes down the drain. Our perseverance is paying off.
