Masindi Vocational Training Centre
The Astrid Uganda Foundation invests in a new special school in the Masindi region: the Masindi Vocational Training Centre. This vocational school is a response to the request for help from the Masindi community itself. There is a growing number of uneducated young people. This makes them and their community very vulnerable. Together with the Uganda Red Cross we want to turn the tide with the new Masindi Vocational Training Centre.
This school will provide boys and girls aged 12 to 21 years with skills that can earn them a living. Such as metalworking, carpentry and tailoring. It involves a special group of (orphaned) children that never had the chance to attend a regular school. Often the parents died of AIDS or in the civil war. The children often had to take care of younger siblings. They cannot make up for the lack of a regular education.
Therefore our vocational school offers courses that create quick and practical opportunities to make money. A regular income means a better life for the children and their families. The school can accommodate at least 120 orphans and vulnerable children.
The initial phase of this project requires an investment of € 122,000.-
